Story
In 2011 my cousin Harry passed away after suffering complications from the heart defect he was born with. Ronald McDonald House Charities provided invaluable support to his parents and grandparents in their time of need and made their lives easier in what was a difficult time. Over the last 11 years our fa,ily have raised just under £18,000 for RMHC UK with Harry's mum Kelly and grandparents Joan & Jim organising some amazing fundraising events to keep Harry's memory alive and continue to support other families who were going through a situation similar to theirs.
Unfortunately in 2019, Jim passed away from cancer and it's my aim to keep both his and Harry's memories alive by continuing the amazing fundraising work that Jim put so much time and effort into.
So I decided to do the most bonkers thing I could do and sign up to run The London Marathon 2022 in both Harry and Jim's memory where we hope to reach a total of £20,000 raised by our family since Harry’s death for a charity that does such incredible work for the families of sick children across the UK.
I hope that you'll donate to my cause and help me in boosting the total raised by our family!
Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides families with free accommodation and support, just a stone’s throw from their child’s hospital bed. Parents and siblings have a place to rest their heads, along with facilities allowing them to retain as much normality as possible. With every donation you make, you’re helping us to keep families together, when it matters most.
71p from every pound donated is spent on running and developing Houses.
We saved each family, on average, £1,240 in out-of-pocket accommodation costs.
We are partnered with 12 NHS hospitals across England, Scotland and Wales.
We saved families, on average, from travelling 62 miles to and from hospital each day to be with their child.
