Story
On 12 May, along with my husband and a few old (and foolish) friends, I am taking part in the Cardiff to Tenby cycle fund-raiser which is organised by Velindre Cancer. I am also trying to raise some money for St David's Hospice in Newport.
In 2015 we lost my wonderful Mum, Josie Withey, to cancer and coming to terms with her illness and passing has been hard. My Mum was a lovely, caring and fun person and faced her challenges head-on and she is an inspiration to me and my family. "Floundering" best describes what I've been doing in the last couple of years but in memory of my Mum and as a tribute to her in her birthday month I decided to leave the comfort of the sofa, get myself a bit fitter and push myself to do something quite hard and completely new to me. It will certainly take many hours and maybe some bike-pushing but I am expecting one or two laughs along the way and I really hope to make it to the party afterwards as I have a feeling it will be a good one !
Both Velindre Hospital and St David's Hospice were involved in helping my Mum and I would like to thank them in a small way for what they do. I would be very pleased with any donations that you are happy to make.
