Most people who know me also know I'm extremely passionate about bettering the lives of homeless people by showing compassion and engaging and supporting them to improve the quality of their lives in their own terms.
At Christmas, most channels of provision are closed while people enjoy the festive season. Many homeless and marginalised people have nowhere to spend Christmas and this can be a difficult time in that situation.
Birmingham Christmas Shelter is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers to look after the homeless or lonely during the week of Christmas.
Our aim is to offer food, warmth, shelter and companionship to homeless and lonely people in the Birmingham area, over the Christmas period. Our doors are open to all, irrespective of gender, colour, race, religion or sexual orientation.
For me, it's the best place to spend Christmas! But it doesn't run on fresh air. And while people are incredibly generous with donations of food and other material goods, premises need to be rented and the lights need to be kept on. That's why I'm asking you to sponsor me as I do my first skydive and do please give generously.
