On the 14th May I'm attempting to run a half marathon with some friends.  That's just over 22km or 13miles. Here's why....

My family live with diabetes.  Every minute of every day. Our journey began 10 years ago when our eldest daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes aged just 5.  We were devastated.  Life was changed forever and so began a lifetime of blood tests, injections, weighing and measuring food, calculations to ensure the correct dose of insulin, hospital appointments , wearing medical devices and battling to keep blood sugars in range. It's incredibly stressful.  But we moved on, dealt with it a day a time and learnt to live with it. Fast forward 10 years........when to our horror, our youngest daughter was also diagnosed aged 12. So began her journey,  blood test, injections , calculations, clinics..........We've no previous family history ( other than her sister) and felt so sad for our wonderful,  beautiful,  courageous daughters.  Two heroic diabetic children living with this horrible illness......with no cure.

We appreciate just having the love and support of our friends and family . That's more than enough.  But if anyone could spare a few quid to put towards research for a cure we'd be very grateful.
