Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
About me
I have been homeless twice in my lifetime, being homeless in the UK is a walk in the park compared to what people in other countries have to endure. For the past 10 years I have been donating to various homeless charities and recently signed up at work to become a Homeless International Champion. I work for Progress Housing Group and they are supporting me through the organisations volunteering scheme to take part in the Nepal Challenge 2014!!!
I will be holding various events, cake sales, sponsored walks, anything I can think off!! I have already had fantastic support from my colleagues at work and feel humbled by their willingness to help me reach my fundraising goal!!
The Nepal Challenge 2014
The challenge takes place in November 2014, I will travel with a group of around 15-20 volunteers to Nepal for 10 days.
During the 10 days I will visit the slums of kathmandu and see what it is like for the people living there. I will work on a Homeless International project, perhaps making hand made bricks, or digging a well!!
I will also take part in a 5 day trek in the Annapurna region, which will involve trekking at altitude!! Will be getting in a bit of practice before going to Nepal so if anyone wants to join me and my dogs on a sponsored walk please let me know!!
I hope the people of Nepal are ready for my pinkness!!!
About Homeless International
One billion people live in slums worldwide and this figure is escalating rapidly as many people seek opportunities in cities. Homeless International works with local organisations in Africa and Asia to help people living in slums to improve their living conditions.
Around 2.8 million people in Nepal live in slums – around 59% of the urban population. Our work with LUMANTI is helping to tackle these problems, to improve housing, access basic services and address the issues posed by natural disasters and climate change.
We help communities transform slums by supporting them to secure land, build decent homes, get safe water and sanitation and negotiate with local governments to ensure their voice gets heard.
