For Rangers Ultra · 14 September 2022

Enhancing the care and treatment of patients accessing NHS services at Poole, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals by fundraising to provide enhanced facilities, state of the art equipment and support NHS staff health, wellbeing and development.

Story

I've worked in Pathology at Poole for the past 41 years and I am currently the laboratory manager for microbiology. In September I will be taking part in the Beyond the Ultimate For Rangers ultra marathon in Kenya.

This is a 230km race split into 5 stages crossing five wildlife conservancies each of which has it’s own characteristic terrain from verdant grasslands to forest; the playground of East Africa’s iconic wildlife. It's a self-sufficient race, I will be carrying all my  kit, including food, safety equipment and a minimum of 2.5 litres of water.

The trails through the grasslands will be baking and the terrain through the rocky hills and riverbeds will be rough underfoot. Undulating between 1500m and 2000m above sea level the habitat and conditions vary hour by hour.

Nights will be spent in tents at  base camps under massive skies full of stars.

Please sponsor me as I take part in this incredible adventure and support the UHD Charity.

Thank you!
