Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  In 2010 I ran a marathon to raise funds towards building Gathehu Mixed Day Secondary School in Gathehu, a remote village in Kenya.  Those who sponsored me then will be pleased to know that the school is thriving and now has 130 students.  Eleven years and a knee operation later a full marathon is a step too far (probably several steps too far!!) but I aim to run a half marathon to raise funds in support of a young man called Solomon Mwangi Maina.  Solomon is the youngest of nine siblings.  His mother died in 2017 and this year his father died also.  Solomon has done well at school and would now like to go to college to study Cargo and Freight but as an orphan he has no way of raising the £3,800 needed to pay for the college fees.  The Gathehu villagers are doing "harambe" for him, which means everyone pulling together and each giving a little so that  together they can achieve the target.  Congleton Pentecostal Church is partnering in this harambe with Gathehu village and for my part I'm running a sponsored half marathon.  Thanks for taking the time to read this and I trust that you will be part of this harambe that will change this young man's life.
