Two years ago I took my dog for a little 100-mile walk from Winchester to Eastbourne across the rolling, whale-backed landscapes of the Sussex South Downs. Even with all the set-backs and near disasters (angry cows and torrential rain) it proved to be one of the best experiences of my life, and I've decided to tackle it again before the dog gets too old.

That year we were walking in memory of my uncle who had sadly passed away not long before. This year I'm walking to remember my Grandparents, Michael & Denise, who have inspired me and guided my footsteps for longer than I can remember. 

My dog, Smeagol, will be 12 this Autumn and age, sadly, has started to take its toll. But I'm convinced he can still manage one more big adventure!

So, just me, the dog,  a backpack and a tent, 10 days and 100 miles... can't wait!
