Story

I’m going to be cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats - 970 miles on a push bike 🚴 in 10 days 😥.

This will be my Seven days of Smiles 😃 challenge, which is aiming to improve the mental health of everyone via doing a seven day physical challenge such as walking the dog, dancing, couch to 5k, running, cycling, etc .

I’ve got a link for sponsorship but I don’t want £10, £5 maximum if you want to sponsor me as times are hard and a fiver won’t scare anyone else from sharing their amount.

More importantly than money 💵 💰, I’d much prefer you share on the site what activity you plan to do over 7 consecutive days. Hopefully we can inspire more people and improve peoples physical and above all mental health.

This has all been inspired by my mate 🤗 Leigh. Apart from shaving 🪒 his legs 🦵(something some cyclists do, I’m lead to believe), he’s a truly inspirational guy and is candid about his past experiences with mental health and is one of the strongest 💪 people I know.

He’s aiming to cycle the most miles in a week later in the year which will be over 2100 miles, which in itself you’d have to question his mental health.

This he is doing to help raise awareness for mental health research

The link to help with his crowd funding is below. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-leigh-timmis-break-the-7-day-cycle-record?qid=954b1bcc961e71e75089b3dc17b71c17

My experience of mental health problems during lockdown was a massive challenge. I was redeployed in an Urgent Treatment Centre with some truly inspirational professionals who have since become great friends.

I saw patients who were self harming, then a few days later they’d return having opened up their wounds and I remember a young girl the same age as my daughter who came in with her mum saying she felt suicidal. I felt helpless at the time as this was something I was neither trained nor experienced in, but said, I’m here to listen and you can speak to me all day if it helps.

Also we’ve lost 2 great people to suicide over the last 2 years - how bad must they have felt and why couldn’t they find someone to speak to?

If we can can improve 1 persons mental health by inspiring them, then let’s do it.

We can all do our own Seven Day Challenge for a friend, for a family member, to remember someone, for ourselves or to inspire me to get to the end. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🚴‍♂️ 🤗 🤗 🤗 xx
