Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to funding world-leading research to pioneer early cancer diagnosis and discover new and better treatments. Each year we fund £10 million of world-leading research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Story

Since my sister Alison died of pancreatic cancer in 2014, Fiona has been involved with Yorkshire Cancer Research and now Chairs the Helmsley fundraising group.  In more recent years we have lost Jenny Rooke our farming neighbour and lovely friend from lung/bowel cancer.  And this year our garden designer and friend Mike Naylor from leukaemia.

Yorkshire Cancer Research focuses on improving Yorkshire's poor record for cancer diagnosis and outcomes, and funds important local research work.

Now I know I'm supposed to raise sponsorship before an event.  But an Ironman is a big challenge (2.4mile swim, 112 mile bike and then a marathon) and I couldn't ask for a contribution before the event was completed.  It was completed - on Sunday 22nd August in just under 14 hours.  Any contributions welcome.  I am going to personally match the total to give YCR a boost this year.  Thank-you.
