no gear and no idea, 4 marathons in the gym within 12 hours

Andrew Henderson is raising money for RFU Injured Players Foundation

Gymathon · 7 November 2020

The RFU Injured Players Foundation supports & protects the rugby family. They provide support to any rugby player who sustains a catastrophic spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury while playing the game, and they fund vital injury prevention research to keep everyone safer on the field.

Story

WE GOT IT DONE!!! 4 marathon distances on 4 pieces of gym kit, the only real glitches outside of being absolutely knackered were with the rower running out of battery, the machines resetting back to a zero clock after 99 mins and the Cross Trainer being grossly underestimated from a time & effort perspective (it would have ended-up taking over 6 hours and the gym needed to close), so we finished the final 8 miles on the WattBike after completing the run. We covered 168km or 168,800m in a total of 13 hours and 35 minutes, which although was longer than the initial goal, on reflection was not a bad effort within the same day.

This is something that challenged us physically and mentally and without the help of everyone involved on the day, I would not have got this done. By this point most know my why, but the funds being raised for the RFU IPF are because they helped a very close friend through a tragic time for him and his family and continue to assist those in the Rugby community with spinal chord injuries.

The photos show a little piece of the day and any donations you can give will go along way to helping others in genuine need.

Thank you and Merry Christmas
