The Civil Liberties Trust funds the charitable work of Liberty - to protect civil liberties and promote human rights. Liberty raises awareness through the media, helps thousands of people each year with free legal advice and information, influences policy and takes on key legal cases.

Story

Thanks for your support. Liberty are totally independent and don’t take money from government or companies. This means their campaigning is never compromised but also that the money they receive from activities such as this bike ride are crucial for their finances. 

I was drawn to the organisation by their history as it illustrates how even in a social democracy such as ours the powers that be can overstep the mark. They were founded in 1932 in response to the Metropolitan Police using agent provocateurs when the hunger strikers arrived in London.
