Like so many people across the country I have recently had to change my working pattern and now be based fully from home. This is a huge change from the normal day to day life as a community fundraiser at the Alzheimer's Society where I would be out across Hampshire meeting with our amazing supporters and volunteers.
Dementia devastates lives, there are currently over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK with over 700,000 over the age of 70 and of those approximately 25,000 are based here in Hampshire & Isle of Wight. Following the latest guidance from the government so many are now having to avoid contact with friends and family which is exactly the opposite of what we would normally want to happen.
Where I can't be out in the community raising vital funds for people and their families affected by dementia I thought I would join my colleagues by setting up a virtual collection tin and help out virtually!!
I will start by donating what I would have spent on fuel for the rest of the week. I know these are worrying times for everyone but if you are lucky enough to be able to work from home or you can spare a few £'s that you would have normally spend on a coffee/lunch/cake/fuel please do because I know the amazing teams I'm lucky enough to work with everyday would be extremely grateful.
Together we will be united against dementia!
