I entered the Stockholm Marathon as

a) I hope to raise some money for the terrific people at Macmillan who support people affected by cancer, something that has recently affected both a colleague and a family member;

b) my hair is getting greyer;

c) with the vague notion that it will encourage me to do more exercise (I'm an honourary Yorkshireman and it was a £75 non refundable fee).

As midlife crises go and with the benefit of hindsight, I would definitely recommend buying a sports car or motor bike.

Please dig deep and donate as much as you can afford now.
