Story
On 19 August 2017, I will be undertaking the National Three Peaks challenge. I will be attempting to climb all three of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours. These are the highest mountains in their respective countries (Scotland,England and Wales).
I decided to undertake this challenge to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland in memory of my Grandad, Ian Raitt, who we sadly lost on 9 June this year.
My Grandad Ian was a great lover of all things nature. My Grandad was a quiet, unassuming and compassionate man. He had a great passion for looking after his array of pets as well as taking countless stray animals under his wing. His passion lives on as he inspired me to hopefully one day qualify as a vet.
At the age of 16 he joined the Ordnance Survey. During his time in the OS he surveyed the outer reaches of Scotland. After years of hard work my Grandad was promoted to Chief Surveyor in the Ordnance Survey for the South West of Scotland. He had an intimate knowledge of the Scottish countryside.
I feel as though undertaking this challenge is a very fitting tribute to such a special man who we sorely miss.
