GDA Three Peaks Challenge 2020 · 6 June 2020
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Update 19 Sep 22
Wow. That was a weekend. One of the hardest things I have done. Currently spending a lot of time massaging sore thighs and knees.
Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me to do the challenge. Every penny was worth the pain.
Thank you to the guides from Max Adventure. Pete and Chris, and also Bob who shepherded me around Snowdon when my knees seized up. They ran a great trip ensuring we were on track with minimal faff and appropriate encouragement.
So Ben Nevis has always been on my list of things to do. So when the guys from My NCT group said they were doing it I thought I have to get involved. Having the chance to do all three peaks in one go is even better.
Our original date of 06-07 Jun 2020, was cancelled due to covid and the new date of 17/18 Sep 22 now rescheduled.
In the meantime I have been doing stair ascents at work to train for this. 77 steps per ascent. 12.32 metres per ascent. 277 ascents will cover the height of the 3 peaks combined. And walking in the Cotswolds to get my legs in.
So finally, we hope, we will be off to Scotland to tackle Ben Nevis, then Sca Fell Pike in the Lake District and finally a dark climb to Snowdon in North Wales.
I've chosen to take on this Three Peak Challenge in aid of GDA, a charity that is working to break down barriers for people living with deafness.
Deafness is a very misunderstood condition that can bring a world of isolation and loneliness. The reality is that no-one dies from deafness but the truth is that the impact it can have on a person's physical and mental wellbeing can be devastating.
