It’s hard to imagine it’s been 5 years since the passing of our beloved mother Katherine Tallyn.  She was the most amazing mum and our best friend.  My sister Hayley and I will be skydiving 10,000 feet on September 11th in her memory.  With the aim of raising money for a special charity (Florence Nightingale trust)  which is very important to us as a family. 

Our mother Katherine was a fighter and so brave.  She fought valiantly for such a long time.  When mum became very sick she was encouraged to go to a respite day At Florence Nightingale hospice in Stoke Mandeville.  She was reluctant at first, but after some persuading she gave it a go.  From the first day she absolutely loved it, she couldn’t wait to go again the following week.   We absolutely loved hearing the stories of what she had been up to, from the foot rubs she received, the things they would make together for the home or just the lovely chats they used to have.  She absolutely adored all the staff there as they made her feel so special and picked her up when she needed it most.  She couldn’t have spoken more highly of the way she was treated.  As mums health unfortunately deteriorated further she insisted that she spent her last days at the hospice.  This is where we as a family saw first hand what an amazing charity Florence Nightingale is.  The care they gave our mum was the very best.  We as a family were supported throughout the toughest days in our lives.  The staff were special people and there kindness will never be forgotten.  They make a difference to so many lives every single day.  It is an absolute honour to raise money for such an inspiring and worthwhile cause.  We are eternally grateful.
