Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am undertaking this challenge in memory of my father who served in  the army from March 1940 to March 1946. He was left behind at Dunkirk and had to make his own way back to England as did thousands of others.

He later worked with Montgomery as part of the team that planned for the D-Day landings. Whilst he didn't go over himself on D-Day, he did go into Normandy a short time later and then traveled through Europe finally arriving in Berlin, where he formed part of the Control Commission to oversee the change from the Nazi Party to a more democratic government.
