Story

This year I’m taking on the London marathon. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for several years but now the start line is getting closer the scale of the challenge feels very real. Lots of early morning training sessions, weekend long runs,  cutting out the alcohol, and a very understanding wife is helping to get me there.

I’m hoping that taking on the challenge will help raise awareness and funds for all the great work going on at St Laurence’s Chorley. It’s at the heart of the town and community and serves the people who need it most in many many ways.

Beyond Covid many people have been hit hard with the cost of living crises, bereavement or loneliness.

St Laurence’s provides a warm & welcoming space that is open to allThrough a wonderful team of volunteers the Pay What You Can Taste Cafe provides over 1,400 hot meals a month to those who need them most.

Through the winter months (and all year round)  the building serves as a warm space where people can feel welcome meet, chat and get support without worrying about the cost of their heating bills.

There’s a free debt advice service and Stepping Stones provides a clothes rail where people can borrow clothes for interviews and get free haircuts.

To support all of this crucial activity funds are needed for preparing the food, heating and repairs and upkeep of the building.

Please give as little or as much as you can spare to help a very worthwhile local cause.
