Story
Yes that's me in the photo, imitating a hippo at the 'GRIM' challenge in Aldershot in December. A cross country run with a difference. Good job I remembered a change of clothes, and my sense of humour!
So its Paris down, London and New York to go...this is starting to sound like a vidal sasson marketing pitch!
After last years Paris marathon, I'm back on the road, running the 2006 London marathon to raise money for Rainforest Concern. They were established as a registered charity in 1993 to protect the worlds tropical rainforests and its incredible biodiversity. Go to http://www.rainforestconcern.org/ to get the lowdown on the important work that you can play a part in by donating today.
Paris was achieved in 3.38 hours (they must have put something in the water!!) So I'm looking to better that this time round. Hungry for 3 hours....and I'm not just talking about the pre-training plate of full english I had this morning, washed down with two more plates of full english!!... I know it will be a tall order, but I've set the challenge, now its time to stick to it!! (Though running dressed as a tree for sheer comedy value is very tempting...)
So keep me motivated through these hard winter days by helping me raise my 1500 pound target. Donating through this site is safe, fast and secure, and the charity will be able to put your money straight to good use. UK taxpayers - an extra 28% will be added to your donation in the form of gift aid. Ill keep you updated on my personal torture regime over the coming months!!
April 24th.....Well I'm still alive, and free of pain. But agony, well thats ANOTHER story!!! Didnt quite have enough in the batteries for 3 hours. I reached half way in 1 hr 28 mins, but stomach pains and legs like lead 'ran' me down second half (well I had to get a pun in there somewhere!) So plan B was 3.15 and I dug deep to get in with a time of 3hrs 14mins 20secs...."same again next year?" Give me a few days and I'll get back to you!!
Thankyou ever so much for your support, and thankyou on behalf of rainforest concern for making a positive difference to preserve the things we know and love.
Kind regards
Andrew Beader Blunn
