Girdy's 2025 Kilt Walk

Andrew Girdwood is raising money for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2025 · 14 September 2025 ·

An animal’s love just keeps going and going and going. It’s unconditional and unlimited. That’s why we take the same approach with everyone who comes through our doors, four legs or two.

Story

Thank you. If you’re here, then there’s a chance you’re about to be awesome.

Last year, at the Kilt Walk, I was beaten by a car tire with googly eyes that was dragged the entire 21 miles. That’s okay, it’s not a race.

I’m walking to raise money for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, a charity that does great work and which is always on the edge of a funding disaster. I am walking to complete the course as someone who suffers from chronic pain and mobility challenges. I am walking because I like to keep my physiotherapist nervous - hey, it seems only fair!

The organisers call this year's 21-mile course "challenging". As you know, "challenging" is a word that fits me well.

I’ve left creating this page too late, and that’s because it’s as awkward as fleck. I did it for the puppies.
