My Dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in September 2018.

Although his prognosis was not good he continued to live life as normal as was possible, celebrating his 80th Birthday with his close family in January 2019 and taking a couple of special holiday’s with his wife Diane both abroad and at home.

Sadly the next 18 months had to be spent at home as we were all under lockdown due to covid at various times.

In June 2021 his condition worsened and he required help with pain relief. After seeing doctors and an oncologist and having scans he was referred to East Coast Specialist Palliative Care Team from the St Elizabeth Hospice.

He was soon visited by a member of their team who set the ball rolling. He wanted to remain at home till the end and with their help, care and advice was able to achieve this right through to his death on October 3rd last year.

They were invaluable and a great help to my Dad and his wife and to that point I feel I need to give “a little bit back” and am raising funds for the hospice by taking on the GEAR 10K run on May 1st this year.

None of us know what’s round the corner or when we ourselves may need such care and compassion and this specialist team are worth their weight in gold.

Please help me to help them and sponsor me  or donate if you are able. Thank you so much.
