As if it was only yesterday: I still vividly remember her face and hearing the words “You have tested positive for HIV.” 

After two horrendous reactions after disclosing my diagnosis – I knew I was never going to say that ‘H’ word out loud ever again! 

In the dark days that followed: alone, overwhelmed and wanting everything to end - Terrence Higgins Trust quite literally saved my life. 

For two years THTs’ online services would be my secret lifeline: it formed the foundations of my HIV knowledge, I met and made many life-long friends in addition to participating and learning how to become a HIV advocate. 

Now nine years later, I smile at who I have become and wear the Red Ribbon LOUD & PROUD. 

I’ll forever be indebted to THT because as a direct result they have enabled me to go on a path of self-discovery: finding inner strength, courage and determination to not only live my life to the fullest, but to follow my dreams and be a voice of the voiceless.
