The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. If you or a loved one need practical or emotional support, call our Connect Helpline on 0808 802 6262, Mon to Fri between 9am and 4pm.

Story

Thanks for showing an interest in my efforts to raise money for the MNDA. My father died of Motor Neurone disease in 1993. It is a particularly distressing and incurable degenerative condition, and the suport of the MNDA was invaluable in helping our family through that very difficult time, providing both education and care support. In addition they are constantly researching new treatments towards a cure.

To mark the 15th anniversary of his death, I have decided to try to give something back to this wonderful organisation. I am looking for people to sponsor me in my goal of going the entire year of 2008 without touching a single drop of alcohol. As a heavy drinker whose entire social life has revolved around pubs, clubs and bars for almost 20 years this will be a significant challenge, but I am completely dedicated to succeeding, and with your support and sponsorship I aim to raise a significant ammount of money for the charity.

I will be keeping a blog to document my progress at www.myspace.com/andyligger. Add it to your bookmarks, drop by with comments, and be part of the fun!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support,

Andy.
