Lands End to John'O Groats · 21 February 2006

We are dedicated to life-changing care at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. King’s provides specialist and local health services to over one million people in South-East London and Kent, as well as critical care. Our work makes innovation, as well as world class treatment, possible.

Story

WE DID IT, finished 19th july, 16 days, 96 hrs in the saddle and a whopping 1017.5 miles, and we loved it, well most of it, hard work but fantastic.

Hello there, thank you for visiting our web page for a fantastic and worthy cause.

Stacey and I are children's Nurses working on the Children's Intensive Care Unit at Kings College Hospital, London.

The unit specialises in liver disease and is a world leader in children's liver transplantation.  We are also a regional centre for children requiring both emergency and planned neurosurgery, as well as a number of general intensive care admissions.

We are currently undergoing a major re-furbishment and with this comes cost.

In order to transform our new unit into a state of the art Critical Care Centre, new and updated equiptment is desperataley needed.

For example a ventilator that helps sick children with their breathing costs £25,000. A spcialised cot called a babytherm that we use to keep sick babies warm costs over £15,000.

This life saving equipment is invaluable for the state of the art Critical Care Centre and as you can see does not come cheap.

The silver Lining Appeal http://www.kingsch.nhs.uk/fundraising  is committed to raising £200,000 for desperately needed equipment.

Stacey and I are helping by doing a cycle ride from Lands End to John'O Groats in July 2006. Not only will this take 2-3 weeks to complete but will also take months to prepare for, both mentally and physically. We will have no support crew for this 1000 mile adventure and will be camping most of the way (as if it wasn't bad enough already!).

All the money that we raise from this 1000 mile journey will be put towards buying a piece of life saving equiptment that the Chidlren's Critical Care Centre so desperately needs.

The South London Press is following our exciting endeavour and we will be more than happy to mention any business or persons who will donate to our worthy cause.

We are not asking you to cycle 6 hours a day for 2-3 weeks, but just to give your support in whichever way you can.

Any amount donated will be greatly appreciated no matter how small.

Please help us make this happen.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: King's College Hospital Charitable Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many many many thanks

ANDREW & STACEY
