Story

On the evening of Sunday 13th December 2020 we tragically and suddenly lost our Andrew, a beloved and devoted father, partner, son, brother, friend and colleague.

Andrew had a love for life, his family, work, travelling and all things Paul Smith! Andrew has been taken far too soon and he leaves behind a massive hole in the hearts of all that knew him yet remains in our hearts and fond memories.

We’re raising money in memory of Andrew to help Heart Research UK fund their work on aortic dissection.

This money will be used to raise awareness of aortic dissection, helping emergency workers to identify an aortic dissection so it can be treated urgently. It will also be used to help fund their aortic dissection masterclasses. These train doctors in the urgent and life-saving surgery needed to repair an aortic dissection. As a rare condition many surgeons will have never experienced an aortic dissection and so training is difficult to find, Heart Research UK’s masterclasses bring surgeons from all across the UK together to learn from surgeons from Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital which is recognised as one of the leading centres in aortic surgery in the UK.
