Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I originally entered this year's Dublin Marathon to prove to myself that I still have it within me at 47 to put myself through a tough physical and mental test and hopefully to improve on my marathon personal best - set 20 years ago in the only other marathon I've ever run, co-incidentally in Dublin in a time of 3 hours 59 minutes and 55 seconds. This was a personal challenge, my very own mid-life crisis if you like, and I had no intention of running for a charitable cause.
My selfish intentions were turned on their head earlier this year when my good friend and golf partner, Jerry Luczyn, sadly died as a result of an aneurysm. Jerry was a keen supporter of DebRA, and had helped to raise a lot of money over the years through charity days at Halifax Golf Club. I am therefore dedicating my efforts to Jerry's memory and to a cause he so fervently believed in. Please visit www.debra.org.uk to find out more about Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and the fantastic work that DebRA do for the sufferers of this awful disease, and then donate whatever you feel able.
I am grateful for your time in reading this message, and more especially for the donation I hope you will provide.
