Supporting people in crisis, affected by homelessness, poverty, abuse, addiction, mental ill-health & complex needs; Aberdeen Cyrenians helps people to achieve their goals by working alongside them, reducing and overcome barriers that they face and empowering them to build skills and resilience.

Story

So, I ran my first hill marathon 6 years ago and my first ultra 4 years ago.

I have been steadily increasing the length of event I have been taking part in and the thing people keep asking me is if I ever do any of my runs for charity. The usual answer is "No", it is my hobby and I do it all the time so it is not really feasible to ask people to part with pennies every time I do a silly race.

For a few reasons I have decided this is going be the one I do for charity.

  • It will be my first 100 mile race so is kinda special to me
  • It is Scotland's only 100 mile race
  • It starts and finishes in Aberdeen (which is my home)

Being a local Aberdeen race, I thought it fitting to try and fund raise for a local Aberdeen charity and that is why I have chosen the Aberdeen Cyrenians.

Nobody ever planned on being that person on the street and you only have to look at Union street on any given day to know homelessness is a stain on our city.

I think the Cyrenians provide a range of essential services and would therefor like to support them.

Thanks in advance for any donations that people would like to give to this cause.
