The Pennine Way · 18 August 2012

The Afghanistan Trust gives assistance to soldiers of The Parachute Regiment who were wounded in action, or the dependants of those killed in action in Afghanistan. It achieves this through financial and welfare support. It also sustains the memories of the loss of life and sacrifices made

Story

Our Inspiration: On 22 June 1940 Winston Churchill called for the formation of an elite Corps of troops...the Paras. Now some seventy years on and after numerous conflicts we see our troops returning home from the war in Afghanistan. While it's a heartening moment, a moment to relish, it's important that we don't lose sight of one crucial fact: for many of these troops the war is far from over!

Our Motto: "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat...Winston Churchill"

Our Team: Andy, Billy & Dougie.

Our Challenge: To walk the 268 mile Pennine Way. Departing Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders on Friday 24 August 2012 and arriving in Edale on Tuesday 04 September 2012 - simply some of the wildest, remotest and best upland walking in Britain in 12 Days! Three men (some will say "OLD"), carrying everything they need, but with one goal!
