Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2023 · 14 May 2023 ·

The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will take place on Sunday 14 May 2023 and has been inspired by former Leeds Rhinos captain, Kevin Sinfield OBE, and his fundraising challenges in recent years in support of his friend and team mate Rob Burrow.

Story

* UPDATE - APRIL 2023 *

Thank you everyone for your donations so far - we really appreciate it and it will make a real difference to the MND community.

For a little bit of added spice, we are also attempting the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge as part of our preparation for the Robbie Burrow Leeds Marathon. David Goggins is an ex-US Navy Seal and ultramarathon runner. The challenge is to run 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. This will be a huge test of our mental and physical endurance, and will require us to go for runs at 2am in the middle of the night!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon with my younger brother on 14th May 2023 as I want to make a difference for people affected by MND.

As you may know, MND has had a devastating impact on the sporting world - particularly rugby union and rugby league - with Rob Burrow, Ed Slater, Doddie Weir and Joost van der Westhuizen all suffering from the disease. This has really resonated with us and we are therefore keen to do our bit to help the MND community fight against this.

Any donations that you make will be massively appreciated. If you want to know more about MND and how your donations can help, please click the following link:

I'd also recommend watching the Kevin Sinfield documentary, "Going the Extra Mile":

BBC iPlayer - Kevin Sinfield: Going the Extra Mile

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, and currently kills more than half of people within two years of diagnosis.

The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND.

Thanks for all of your support.
