Story

So what is Tough Mudder? and why the Royal Engineers Association?

Well Tough Mudder is 'probably the toughest event on the planet.' ( www.toughmudder.co.uk ) It's a 12 mile assualt course consisting of 27 obstacles designed by British Special Forces. These consist of diving into ice pools to running through haybells of fire, whilst of course getting covered head to toe in mud. The course is that tough we are training vigorously every day, sometimes twice a day for it.

So why the Royal Engineers Association and not Help for Heroes?

Well the REA is alot closer to our hearts as we are all Royal Engineers and also the REA look after the families of fallen Sappers from all different conflicts including recently Afghanistan. We have all just returned from Op Herrick 15 and our Squadron sadly lost Sapper Elijah Bond during this tour.

Sapper Elijah Bond KIA 9 Dec 2011 37 AES
Sgt Andrew Jones KIA 18 Sept 2010 QRL
Sapper Daryn Roy KIA 3 May 2010 4 AES
Cpl Dave Barnsdale KIA 19 Oct 2010 33 Eng Regt

The above hero Sappers are to name but a few who have lost there lives in Afghanistan over the past couple of years not to mention the Sappers who have died in Iraq and the Balkans. The Royal Engineers Association is there to help the fallers families through the worst times.
The REA is always there for the men and women of the Corps that have been seriously injured in action helping them through their rehabilitation and getting back to one can hope a normal life.

They currently put 5 Corps orphans through schooling as they have no family at all, so the money we hope to raise for the REA will go a long way to helping the families of our fellow fallen comrades now and in the future. Please dig deep, your donation no matter what size will go a long long way. Thankyou for your support, for our team and for the Royal Engineers Association.
