Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m running the Virtual Boston Marathon this year, the Boston Marathon is the ultimate aim for me. Hopefully in person one day in my quest to complete the world six world marathon majors. So when the opportunity to run the virtual event came along due to Covid-19, I had to do it!
It's going to be incredibly hard without the crowd, feed / drink stations, buzz of a big city and other runners to keep me going. But when it gets tough, as it inevitably it will, I know that I've been through worse and will get through it, however hard it is.
I’ve been running for a while now, but found this was my outlet to think, grieve and help process things after we lost our precious son Theo, who was stillborn at full term in July 2016. Doing something positive in his memory has been my way of coping. The Virtual Boston Marathon falls during Baby Loss Awareness Week, which is a particularly poignant week for anyone effected by baby loss.
The Lily Mae Foundation have been fantastic throughout our journey. Helping us to meet people that have sadly been through the same experience and we’ve remained close friends. They really did help us rebuild our lives, from grief support days to attending hospital meetings and various fun charity events. The informal meetings were a lifeline that helped us talk openly about Theo, with a group of people that understood and were able to provide their own support and inspiration.
Without The Lily Mae Foundation our lives truly would have been so much harder, at the time when you’re suffering the most. For that and their continued support we’ll be eternally grateful. They also do a great job of helping to raise awareness of baby loss, which is the best education and prevention possible. Baby loss at all stages is often still not perceived as the risk it really is throughout any pregnancy.
Any donations to help support The Lily Mae Foundation would be gratefully received.
