As you may already know, my son Eric was admitted to Sheffield Children's Hospital last September within a few hours of being born. Thankfully it turned out to be nothing too serious and Eric was home with myself, my partner Becky and his big brother Zack after a week a happy and healthy baby boy and he is now only a few months away from celebrating his first birthday. During Eric's stay in hospital I was offered a room to stay at the hospital. These rooms are provided by The Sick Children's Trust who have two houses at Sheffield Children's Hospital, Magnolia House (which I stayed at) and Treetop House. These rooms are given to parents of children who are in hospital so they have a place to stay and are then never far away from their child. This is a fantastic facility for parents to have when available to them. These rooms are provided free of charge to parents for as long as they are required, however they do cost the charity £900 per month. When I handed the keys back to the staff at Magnolia House when Eric was discharged I promised I would try and raise some money for them as a way of gratitude for the room and the wonderful staff. Hopefully we can raised £3,000 which would keep 3 rooms going for just over a month and allow families to be there at the hospital for their children.

The Event.

Following a few drinks and a discussion with my good friend Jake Lee we decided that I would take 1000 penalties at him in a single day. Jake being a member of the goalkeepers union (he still thinks he could play for Sheffield Wednesday) is up for the challenge and after a few calculations we have worked out that I need to take 1 penalty every 45 seconds for 12 and a half hours to complete the challenge. The event is due to take place on 12th of October.

As regards donations please give whatever you can in order to help us achieve our target for this fantastic cause.
