Story
As most of you know, our Shell was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the end of June and life hasn’t been quite the same since.
I honestly cannot put into words how proud I am of her and the way she has faced everything that’s been thrown at her so far. Through the uncertainty, the worry and everything she’s had to go through, she continues to show so much strength. The smile on her face and that little “thumbs up” she gives me whenever I ask if she’s okay mean more to me than she will ever know. It’s in those little moments that you see just how strong someone can be, even when they’re facing something so incredibly difficult.
We’ve had to learn so much in such a short space of time, and it’s opened our eyes to just how devastating a brain tumour diagnosis can be! Not only for the person diagnosed, but for everyone who loves them.
That’s why, this November, I’ll be taking on the challenge of walking 99 miles to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
I know 99 miles is nothing compared to the challenges faced every day by people living with a brain tumour and the families who stand beside them, but if walking those miles can help make even a small difference, then every single step will be worth it.
Brain Tumour Research is the only UK charity dedicated to funding research into brain tumours, with the aim of finding a cure for ALL types of brain tumours.
1 in 3 people know someone affected by a brain tumour. It could be a friend, a family member, a colleague, or someone you love with all your heart. Sadly, for us, this is no longer just a statistic. It’s personal.
Nobody should have to face a diagnosis like this, and no family should have to feel so helpless while someone they love goes through it.
So, I’m asking you all to please get behind me, donate whatever you can, and help us raise as much money as possible to fund vital research. Every donation, no matter how big or small, could help make a difference and bring us one step closer to a future where a brain tumour diagnosis doesn’t have to be so frightening.
I’m walking these 99 miles for Shell and for everyone fighting a brain tumour and for the hope that one day we’ll find a cure.
If we can turn something so heartbreaking into something that helps others, then that’s exactly what I want to do.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donates, shares this post, or supports me along the way. It really does mean more than you know.
