My cycle for Alzheimer’s Society · 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

My dad had dementia, such a proud man struck down by such a cruel disease. I watched this force majeure once a Sergeant Major slowly become a shell of his former self.

I now work as a Specialist Nurse in Memory Assessment Service in Hull and the East Riding. I have devoted my career to helping patients and families to find a diagnosis. Where nobody wants the news they have dementia but as I always say to my patients "When you know what the battle is and what the enemy looks like its power is reduced against you."

Me and the team I work with work hand in hand with the wonderful folks from the Alzheimers Society and without them we would find our work so much more difficult. Please help me, to help them, to help people with dementia and families find the support they need. Thank you 😊
