Macmillan are an incredible organisation, an essential part of the cancer journey for all patients  providing unique service and support to patients and their families. 

We have all been touched by cancer, either directly or indirectly. Treatment doesn’t begin and end with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Family support, patient support (emotional and financial), advice, nutrition, good sleep, exercise - all so important. Macmillan make navigating the cancer journey, so often a rollercoaster of emotion and anxiety, so much less painful.

I do this marathon in support and memory of patients I have treated over the years who didn’t make it, and for all the many that did who can witness me complete this challenge! I am also honoured and humbled that my son will do the marathon with me.

This will be my first marathon and I hope not the last. I have wanted to do this for many years and can’t think of a better charity to support with my pain, tears, sweat and blisters.
