Challenge Completed: 6th June 2009!
Despite the atrocious weather conditions on Saturday, we completed the 10 peaks challenge in 9 hours. Walking through rain, snow, hail and high winds was no easy task but completed in good spirits and humour. Andrew would be proud.
We will be collecting in other pledged funds over the next couple of weeks to get to our final tally, at which point we will send an update on the equipment LAMRT will now be able to purchase as a result of your generocity.
From all of us, THANK YOU
Challenge date: 6th June 2009
Following the sudden and unexpected loss of Andrew, a group of intrepid individuals have come together for a challenge in his memory.
Each of us in the group carries our own special memories of Andrew, an adventurous, warm and fun guy. We are inspired by his enthusiasm and energy and have chosen a challenge we feel is fitting to his memory.
On the 6th June we will be walking the challenge route of 10 peaks across the Lake District in 10 hours.
We are raising money for the Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team and have agreed with the Lake District Mountain Search and Mountain Rescue Association to collect here, on Just Giving, on their behalf.
Mountain rescue teams are a self-funding dedicated team of 'professional volunteers' coming from all walks of life, united in their love of mountains and their wish to help their fellow mountaineers in trouble. The Lake District, and in particular the Langdales were a special and favourite place for Andrew, a mountaineer himself.
We will feel proud, and we know Andrew would too, that through your support for us by generous donations here today that we will have contributed to ensuring the mountain rescue team have all the equipment they need to do everything they can for those in trouble out on the fells.
Thank you for your support.
