Flora London Marathon 2007 · 22 April 2007 ·

We are a charity based at Hollesley, Suffolk and manage around 20 Suffolk Punch's along with other native Suffolk farm animal breeds and plants. We strive to ensure that these stalwarts of Suffolk heritage are protected for the enjoyment and education of future generations.

Story

HI

YES I DONE IT. I COMPLETED THE 26.2 MILES IN 4HRS 41 MINS.

THE MAIN REASON FOR THIS IS IT WAS VERY HOT AND SUNNY

THANK YOU FOR SPONSORING ME AND I AM STILL TAKING SPONSOR DONATIONS ONLINE.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

I am running in the 2007 London Marathon on behalf of the Suffolk Punch Trust.

Suffolk Punch heavy horses were once the power on the farm, especially in its heartland throughout East Anglia, with thousands working to help feed the population.

Their pedigree can be dated back at least to the 16th Century.  Sadly, since the advent of mechanisation, numbers have declined dramatically.

With less than 400 remaining, they are now rarer than the Giant Panda.

There is a real chance that this rare breed could become EXTINCT.

We have a chance to save them with your help. Last year the Trust acquired 27 Suffolks with its purchase of the Colony Farm from H.M. Government where it formed part of Hollesley Bay Open Prison. Now it urgently needs funds to keep the Stud operating, to guarantee the continuation of the breed and to provide public and environmental conservation programme for all ages.

Don't let this 'ICON'  of East Anglian Heritage and culture die out before our very eyes!

I was born in Suffolk and lived here all my life.My parents and Grandparents were brought up with working horses and love for these horses is in my heritage and a worthy cause.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE TRUST BY SPONSORING ME NOW!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks

Andy
