Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am Andy, I am 34 and I am running the Brathay 10 in 10 for the first time. I grew up in Windermere and now live in Kendal with my wife Clare and daughter Bethany. Exercise has always been part of my life and I spend much of my spare time swimming, running and cycling around the Lake District.
Windermere was my first marathon back in 2009 and other than 2016 when illness prevented me taking part, I have ran every year since. I have always been in awe of the 10 in 10 runners and the determination they have to keep pushing towards the finish line. In 2021 I took on my biggest challenge to date and finished the Ironman uk. I have always supported the Brathay challenges including the trail 60 and Langdale marathon and to now take on this enormous challenge to raise money for the Brathay trust is a huge honour.
From and early age I have always been aware of the Brathay trust and the phenomenal work they do for children and young adults. During my time at school I spent many days at Brathay hall assisting with training days and recruitment and saw first hand how the experiences they create have a positive impact on many lives. While running the 10 in 10 is a huge personal challenge the end goal is to raise as much money as I can for the Brathay trust to continue their work having a positive impact in future.
I am in no doubt this challenge is going to be by far the most physically and emotionally draining 10 days of my life but with the support of my family and the Brathay team I am already looking forward to the start (and finish!!).
