Story
For a friend...
My main driving factor for participating in my first half marathon, and raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, is for one of my best friends; Daniel Godley. Late last year he was unexpectedly diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer aged just 28. He is one of the most inspiring, positive and endearing characters I know, embracing his diagnosis as best as possible, while charging through every hurdle in his way.
He recently received news that the tumour had shrunk from 3.2cm to 2.1cm after his first full cycle of chemotherapy, which was the best news we all could've wished for. However, we'll continue to fight until he receives the green light, and we'll all be right behind him every step of the way.
Dan decided to create a blog after his diagnosis, as a way to express his thoughts and give an insight into his journey. He's a brilliant writer and the blog has been such a wonderful outlet for so many people, simply as a way to keep up to date with Dan, but also as a source of perspective and advise.
I'm not terribly great at writing myself, or articulating myself through words but you can keep up to date with all of Dan's progress via his blog, Ebb & Flow - https://ebb-and-flow.blog/
We all love you so much Dan.
1st Half Marathon
I'm by no means the fittest person you'll come across, nor a weathered athlete. Although I've always been akin to sports in my youth, I only started running at the start of 2021 and this will be my first time participating in a half marathon.
Running the Potters 'Arf is the least I can do as a means of raising funds, so please help donate and keep the momentum going, leading towards June 12th. Your support and donations mean the world to me, Dan and towards Pancreatic Cancer UK.
