Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I started volunteering for Hearing Dogs 7 years ago as a training from home volunteer and was lucky enough to get offered a job in our volunteering department. Over the last seven years we have seen the most amazing puppies and dogs coming through our home – Tinker, Yorkie, Teal, Oreo, Ben, Gatsby, Roary and our current house guest Harvey, not to mention lots of puppies in between who have stayed on a short term basis.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People receives no central government funding so they very much rely on their volunteers and supporters. A couple of years ago I walked 25km on the Isle of Wight and feeling that I could do more (??!) I decided this time I should try for 50km on the Chiltern Ultra Challenge and help raise money for this amazing charity
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to different sounds & signals, such as the fire alarm. Not only do hearing dogs change deaf people’s lives by providing emotional and practical support, and a new sense of confidence, but they've also saved lives.
