Story
Many people have struggled through the pandemic, particularly the elderly and those living alone. My lovely mum has been very stoic through it all and we have managed in our little bubble to keep her spirits up but I am very aware that many older people who live alone have not got the same level of support. The befriending service offered via the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) offers huge benefits reaching out to people and providing a friendly voice to those in need.
So - Why Wing Walking? A few people have asked what my next adventure for charity would be and this seemed to be a great way to raise money for the RAFA charity, and I found myself applying although I am feeling a tad nervous (read petrified) :-)
My late father was so proud of his service in the RAF and I know he will be watching over me and cheering me on as I take a Wing Walk in a 1940's Boeing Stearman biplane on May 12th to raise much needed funds for RAFA.
And this is where you come in :-)
Sponsoring me with your contribution will assist in providing help and support to serving and ex-serving RAF personnel and their families who find themselves in need. Today, there are over 1.5 million people in the RAF family who are either serving or who have served in the RAF (whether as a regular or reservist) and their spouses, partners or dependent children.
Your support will be so very much appreciated by RAFA and by me.
Each indecision brings it's own delays
And days are lost lamenting over lost days
Whatever you can do or think you can do - begin it
For boldness has magic, power and genius in it
