Story
If you are reading this then you more than likely knew my mum and knew what a wonderful, kind and amazing woman she was. What you could only have guessed at (but that Diane and I are blessed to know first hand) is that she was the best life’s guide, mum and grandma ever. To several of my friends children she was an adoptive grandma figure.
Even if you weren’t lucky enough to know my beautiful mum first hand, you know me and you know how much I loved and still love my mum and how I am lost without her.
Damaged livers are most definitely not solely caused by alcohol abuse, there are many causes, one of which is autoimmune issues. It is something that I, as someone with now a higher than average chance of developing myself, would like to raise money for more research for.
My walk won’t be about speed or times (I am a very overweight 47 year old!) it is about time out by myself to think over wonderful memories and to talk to my mum…. I know that she is listening and encouraging me as she always did.
If you have read this far, thank you so much. If I could be cheeky enough to ask one thing is that you sponsor me even £1 please, it all helps. If you wanted to donate for mum funeral but couldn’t then I know she would be thankful for any support you can give to me now to help me through what will be a very difficult day.
Love you always and forever my beautiful mum xxxx
I am taking on a trekking challenge for the British Liver Trust because their work means so much to me. The charity reaches and supports thousands affected by, and at risk of, liver disease and liver cancer. They provide support and information through their nurse-led Helpline, support groups, publications and online forum. The charity raises awareness of the causes of liver disease, providing free liver scans on their Love Your Liver roadshow and they also campaign for early diagnosis, better care and treatment for everyone affected. Please help us to support the charity's work by sponsoring me. The more people that know about the British Liver Trust, the greater their impact, so please spread the word by sharing this page with all your friends and family and your networks. Thank you for your support, it really does mean a lot to me.
