Child Bereavement UK help children and young people (up to age 25), parents, and families, to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. Child Bereavement UK also provide training to professionals, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

Story

I'm raising money in memory of my son Christopher.

Christopher died on 20th June 1996, a week before his 11th Birthday. As you can imagine this was a very dark time in my life, I can't begin to describe the absolute devastation.  As I look back, I still don't understand how I managed to get out of bed on a morning, never mind get through a day!  I had no support from anyone - my doctor offered pills but I refused to take them.  I was truly alone and felt as though nobody understood what I was going through. I believe if it wasn't for Shaun, my youngest son (he was 5yrs old at the time), I wouldn't be here now - he was my reason to get out of bed each day, because quite simply, he still needed his mum.

The really crap thing is, had I been aware of Child Bereavement UK, I need not have been alone.  They not only help the grieving parent, they give much needed support to siblings left behind too - they even train Teachers in schools to be able to support grieving children.  It's really sad that Shaun and I didn't get the help we so desperately needed.

I don't want other parents to feel as alone as I did - I don't want siblings to grow up not understanding what's going on and not to have the help and guidance of someone who truly understands them.

Please give generously, this charity does an AMAZING job!

Lastly, for those who don't know, I turn 50 next year, so running 26.2 miles is not going to be easy for this old body of mine.

Thank you
