Great Manchester Run 10k 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·

Welcome to our Team Dementia UK campaign for the Great Manchester Run 10k 2019!

Story

I'm taking on the Great Manchester Run 2019 in May to support families facing dementia across the UK.

As I am Fifty this year I decided to set myself a challenge to run a 10k. I decided to run for Dementia UK as my family have been affected by dementia.

Nine years ago, my dad was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and a year later my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimers. At the time my brother and I were given very little advice or support to deal with this and it had a huge impact on our lives.

Sadly mum and dad have now passed away but I would like to raise money to support Dementia UK to provide specialist dementia nurses who provide dementia care to families in need, enabling them to live more positively with dementia.

Every donation counts. My target is £150 but I would love to exceed this.

£5 could mean an Admiral Nurse can send life-changing advice on how to communicate with someone with dementia to four families

£14 could pay for a person in crisis to get specialist, compassionate advice from an Admiral Nurse on our Dementia Helpline

£27 could pay for a brand new Admiral Nurse for an hour, reaching families facing dementia who currently have no other support network

It would be wonderful if you could donate.

I will be running in memory of my mum and dad, Joyce and Norman Peers.

Thank you.

Angela
