Story

On November 29, 2024, we received the news that no family ever wants to hear. Our cousin Jay, was in hospital awaiting an MRI scan with a suspected brain tumour. Time stood still as a family we learned of his diagnosis: Glioblastoma, multi form, grade four brain tumour.

Our family want to raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Research to advance science and understanding of this cruel illness. We believe that far more research and support is needed to bring hope not only to Jay, but to countless others affected by these brain tumours. Increased investment for research into this devastating disease is desperately needed. According to Cancer Research UK, glioblastomas are the most common type of brain tumour in adults, however just 1% of the national spend on cancer research is allocated to the disease. These statistics are horrifying and at just 52 years old, Jay, a son, husband, brother, dad, grandad, friend, and cousin, does not deserve to be battling this. He has always been a fighter, and now he faces the biggest battle of his life.

I will be starting my 200K in May by walking the North Wales coastline, a scramble up Snowdon and then some more! So I invite you to join me in this crutial cause by participating in "200K in May Your Way"—a sporting event taking place in May 2025. My personal target is to raise £1000 for Brain Tumour Research. Many of our family are taking part, and we aim to end the challenge by walking into Horsham with Jay by our side. Please consider donating if you can, or share our story if you cannot donate at this time. Every action helps us support him and others facing similar challenges. Together, let’s keep fighting. He is giving it his all in this fight; now it is our turn.
