Story

Survival rates from strokes are up but that is only part of the story. Recovery from a stroke is tough. I know lots of people affected by strokes. The recovery is similar to that from a brain injury from an operation or trauma. I experienced this after removal of my benign brain tumour and the lack of support available during recovery. I was lucky to have family to help me get the support I needed - I had to relearn to wslk and talk first of all and there were other challenges later. Msny cannot get this help and after the initial recovery period it has much less effect leaving many severely disabled.

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt.

I want to help The Stroke Association get help to those who need it when they need it. They also provide resources and support for family and friends who are affected which is much needed.
