North London Hospice supports more than 3,500 people with a life-limiting illness each year in the communities of Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey. Established in 1984, we are committed to empowering our patients through our vision which is to provide the best of life, at the end of life, for everyone.

Story

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother at the age of 92.
She will be remembered by us all in so many different ways as a mum, yiayia, grandma, big yiayia, Angeliki and Angela.

Angeliki was born in Akanthou, Cyprus, a place she had cherished memories of as a young child. She travelled to London from Cyprus by ship which took 3 weeks at the age of 24, to marry Christodoulos, also from Akanthou, and set up home in South London. They later went on to have 5 children, Peter, Tony, Michael, Chrisy and Maria.
Angeliki was also blessed with 11 grandchildren James, Jenna, Chloe, Alexander, Oliver, Harry, Christopher, Chelsea, Angelica, Hannah and Costa and 5 great grandchildren, Maya, Jenson, Mila, Leonardo and Theoharis.

Mum was an amazing cook, and wherever there was a party, which there were many with such a large family she would amaze everyone with the quality and the taste of her food. She was a proud woman, and you would always find her with her apron on cooking in her kitchen although she didn’t let us know her special touch on making these dishes.

After dads passing nearly 33 years ago, mum became more involved in the church community and visited many Greek islands, as well as Jerusalem, Russia, Portugal, Lourdes, Monaco, and she also visited many historic churches. Later in life, her joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she enjoyed their visits and playing with them which gave her lots of happiness. She was a kind and gentle lady. Mum will be sorely missed but will always be in our hearts and memories.

The family would like to support and raise funds for the North London Hospice that supported us and mum during this difficult period and know she would be grateful for all donations made. If you prefer to provide a donation in a different form this will also be warmly received. There will also be a collection box at the church.

Thank you

The family of Angeliki Halkou
