"Ooh my goodness- a year has nearly passed already since we did our last Moonwalk challenge in Edinburgh.

 

This year, The Tholthorpe Sunflowers are off to London - in approximately 4 weeks time we shall be pounding the streets of the Capital in the company of around 15,000 others, all raising money for Breast Cancer Research.  We are already training hard and clocking up our mileage in preparation for the 26.2 mile slog which will start in Hyde Park at midnight on Saturday 15th May.

I remember last year like it was yesterday.  The atmosphere is amazing, starting with the build up in the Big Top Pink Tent, there are 1000's of people with just on cause.  Luckily it was dry, although a little cool (well, it was Scotland in June!), but once we were in our Tholthorpe Sunflower rhythm we were able to gather our own pace and, being women, we were never short of conversation - even after 8 hours!!  We were very much driven on by the amazing sponsorship we all received (as a group we raised over £1000) Thank You. Finishing the walk was very special and emotional, for me it was a great sence of relief and pride at being able to complete the challenge together with my wonderful friends.   But I have to say this is nothing compared to the physical and emotional challenges that so many victims of cancer and their families have to face on a daily basis.  So we will "Walk the Walk" together again and yes - I will promise to send you a photo of us in our finely decorated bras - watch this space!!"
