My Story

“Abandon nothing. Take up nothing. Rest, abide in yourself, just as you are.”                                     Abhinavagupta (AD950-1020 approx)

I am both a teacher and student of yoga and as such I consider myself to be a guide. Just as you wouldn’t trek through the Amazon without someone to show you the way, similarly you wouldn’t embark on a yoga journey without guidance from a teacher. For me, teaching yoga is about giving something back. Yoga has given me so much and has helped me through some really tough times, so I consider it a privilege to be able to apply those experiences to help others. Yoga Moksha is the name of my business (Moksha meaning freedom - freedom through yoga) and my aim is to enable people through yoga therapy/classes to find their own personal sense of freedom. Sound is also an important therapy for me and as such I use chants and mantra in my own practice and occasionally in smaller classes.

The charity I have chosen is the Prison Pheonix Trust and for me it was a no-brainer choosing them, as I one day hope to be a contributer within their organisation. The Yogathon involves doing 108 rounds (each round has two parts!) of Surya Namaskar - Salute to the Sun. Thats 12 lots of 9 rounds, each lot being conducted by a different teacher.

I hope that you will take the time to donate to this amazing charity - even the smallest of donations helps  :)
And finally........wish me luck folks! My training has suffered a slight setback so far, but after a pummelling and some healing I'm feeling less like a creaky (slightly older) person!  LOL

Namaste

ps I'm gonna keep a diary of how my training goes from now on, so you can read - if you are so inclined! - about my struggles and triumphs!!

After a week of no training to rest my shoulder and arm it's feeling much better. So, I decided to get in gear again today and easily managed 2 lots of 9 rounds and surprised myself! So, I'm well on track  :)

One training session today - though I meant to do two!! Not sure where the other one went LOL  Anyway, another 2 lots of nine rounds - keeping it there for a while as my arm begins to ache a bit, so need to build up the strength a bit  :)
